The Coconut Emporium
Handicraft production of coconut fiber, fertilizer and other products
The Yonic Coconut Emporium aims to process coconut waste from the coastline of Bahia, starting with Ilhéus. The state of Bahia is the largest coconut producer in Brazil; its waste means a great amount of raw material to reuse and recycle.
This means as well that by recycling coconut husks, less waste will accumulate
or burned therefore less pollution will be produced (less greenhouse gas effect).
With a mechanical process the coconut husk becomes fiber and dust. The fiber is already used by brazilian industry for vehicule seat upholstery and a series of other usefull products. The Coconut Emporium aims furthermore to develop new and exclusive products; in order to do so The Coconut Emporium is inventing the process to make these new products. The dust part of the coconut is a component of great quality to be used as organic fertilizer. The Coconut Emporium opened at the end of 2008, among all yonic projects, this one aims to reach the self-sustainability of Yonic.
